A Day Made Better

A Day Made Better

Everyday across Australia, dedicated teachers are guiding, mentoring and coaching our children using creativity, innovation and sometimes even a little money from their own pocket.

Now in its 6th year, the 2016 A Day Made Better programme received over 40,000 nominations in the quest to find ten of Australia's most inspiring primary and secondary school teachers. Students past and present, parents, family, friends, as well as colleagues, principals and school administrators nominated teachers for going the extra mile and positively influencing their students' lives.

Each of the ten winners received a host of prizes for their classroom worth over $5000, including office products provided by OfficeMax's generous partners and an Apple iPad.

Donations

Stock Donations

Each year OfficeMax donate much needed equipment and stationery to various charities within the Australasian region. In 2016 alone, we have donated over $40,000 worth of goods to charities in countries such as East Timor, Vanuatu, Indonesia, Fiji and of course here in Australia.

Most of these charities have focussed on youth and education. From helping with back to school goods after the recent cyclones in Vanuatu to helping out orphanages in Indonesia, at OfficeMax we believe we are privileged to be in a position to help.

Along with our Tjindgarmi program which looks at helping the Indigenous youth and getting them back to or keeping them in education, we are also donating excess school stationery to a variety of remote areas schools in Australia.

In November 2016, the Les Twentyman Foundation in Melbourne lost all their Back to School booklist packs to a devastating fire. The Les Twentyman Foundation provides packs to the disadvantaged and needy in Melbourne’s west, including unaccompanied refugees. OfficeMax moved quickly and in a great team effort had replaced 400 individual book packs and delivered them to the foundation in time for Back to School. OfficeMax also donated 7 laptops, a number of calculators and various technology items that are in great demand at the foundation.

Sponsorships & Local Community Participation

Many of our local offices support their communities through sponsorship. These arrangements are generally offered through volunteering their time, or in-kind donations.
